Vibes renewed: not a typical autumnal playlist

My annual Spotify playlist is shaping up nicely, especially when compared to last year's. So, I thought I'd share a few songs in case you're on the lookout for some fresh tunes.

Over the last two weeks, Discover Weekly has been on a roll following a few months of disappointment. My recommendation is to diligently dislike all the songs that aren't to your taste (I removed about 80% of the playlist). This should, hopefully, reset the algorithm to better match your preferences.

Caravãna Sun - Whale Song

When I first heard this song, I thought, "Hmm, what a nice, authentic indie track for 2023!" Only to later discover that the song dates back to 2016 :D. Its vibe closely mirrors that of Local Natives. Explore this band if you're nostalgic for the golden indie era from a decade ago.

Scanners - Salvation

I started watching Gossip Girl for the first time this October, and these two songs really caught my ear. Thank goodness for Shazam's quick ID. I find that I prefer this series to SATC. It's refreshing to move past crying over Carrie and instead watch Chuck Bass steal the show with his character development.

And one more from the Gossip Girl universe:

The Naked and Famous - The Sun

Stereoclip - Sunset Drive

Who doesn't enjoy a bit of electro to accompany a sunset backdrop? This year, summer lingered a bit longer for us in the Northern Hemisphere—so let’s keep those vibes going (I'm postponing any Halloween or holiday vibes until December).

dayaway - desert island

Continuing with the summer theme, this track evokes images of diving into the ocean and having a blast. Themes of the seaside, ocean, and water dominate the vibe of this band, reminding me strongly of Morcheeba. It's such a pleasant listen.

Anish Kumar, Barry Can’t Swim - Blackpool Boulevard - Edit

I stumbled upon this gem earlier in September, but it fits perfectly into this roundup. It exudes summer dancing vibes through and through, providing great motivation.

Let me know your favourite music in the comments! :)
