Pre-summer notes

One does not simply value being healthy more than when you're sick. And you don't really recognize you're actually healthy until you come out on the other side, when you feel better.

And that's how I realized I haven't been fully okay in a month! A couple of consecutive random illnesses (I didn't know you can even have a sore throat for 10 days without infection) - and an entire month has passed.

This came at the least convenient time - traveling, work, moving = everything at once, as it tends to happen. This came at the least convenient time - traveling, work, moving = everything at once, as it tends to happen.

Anyway, this led me to appreciate my health even more - and, what's more important, the privilege one has if you can move your body and exercise!

In this lifestyle-ish blog entry, I wanted to share a few observations or things that grabbed my attention as we're leaning into summer.

Food
I ran out of ideas for savory breakfast, and as per usual, when I don't know what to eat, I head over to Tish Wonders' YouTube channel to get some inspo. And she delivered! I tested out the cannellini beans + cottage cheese on sourdough combo, and it's such a nice, warm meal to have in the morning.
Attaching a random photo of my lunch instead. :)

Poolside matcha is now a real treat after a day glued to the computer.

Oat milk of choice!

Content

This video (Death of the Follower & the Future of Creativity on the Web with Jack Conte | SXSW 2024 Keynote) popped up on my YouTube, and I enjoyed it profoundly, especially after not being interested in my feed anymore. Uniform posts and formats make me appreciate creative people that go their own direction even more.

Which leads me to a creator - @littletinyegg I came across on YT when I was sick in bed with a fever. I couldn't really watch any series or films - it was just too much for my brain to tackle, nor random videos because I couldn't bear particular sounds. B asked me at the time what was I watching and I said: ‘A girl that paints in her sketchbook’.
I thoroughly enjoyed her videos - they were incredibly calming - to the point I could easily fall asleep (which was more than needed at that point) and such nice ones to watch. Not to mention the art is lovely, positive, full of colors inspired by US outdoors and nature. I love creativity and making art and hope I can find more free time to do fine arts regularly again.

Makeup

I did this post about a minimal makeup collection, but living in a place by the sea with 80% humidity (most of the time) and somewhat warm weather brings more rules into the equation :D

  • Spending any extra styling time on your hair doesn't make sense

  • And then you're somehow lazy to do makeup - which doesn't make too much sense either. God bless Zoom calls because without them, I probably wouldn't be doing the bare minimum either. The bare minimum:

  • Brow pencil

  • Brow mascara

  • Lip and cheek tint

  • Occasional mascara - but I plan on doing a tint and lash lift, so that wouldn't be necessary very soon :D

This makes me compensate in a way by doing my manicure more prominently. I think of it like jewelry that makes you look more put together. :)

The bare minimum has reached a new level

The final product

Accessorizing

I dreamt of having paintings of the space in my sketchbook so I grabbed a few photos from NASA and painted for a while. :) They have many galleries of pictures from Webb (with descriptions) - a fascinating browse.

Exploded star - one of my favorites

Hope you enjoyed this little diary entry - how was your past month?
