February Tunes ๐ŸŽถ

When it comes to flying, I always have to make sure I have some good tunes downloaded on my Spotify app before I take off. Being up in the air in a metal contraption can be nerve-wracking, but having some music to keep me distracted definitely helps ease my mind.

For the past seven years, I've made it a habit to create yearly playlists filled with my favorite songs. As each new year rolls around, I find myself getting a little anxious about whether I'll discover any quality tunes that I'll love and listen to for years to come.

Although my trusty Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify doesn't always deliver like it used to, I've found other ways to explore new music. I've been listening to other people's playlists and trying to discover new avenues for musical exploration.

To my surprise, I've stumbled upon some great new songs on Spotify in the past few weeks (maybe because I've been hitting the dislike button quite a bit). So, I thought I'd share a few of my current favorites with you.

Love Scenes - HARD FEELINGS

Do you ever hear a song that sounds like it's straight out of the 80s, but you know it's too modern to be that old? That's how I feel about this amazing band I recently discovered. The lead singer has such a bold and powerful vibe that I can't help but get lost in their music.

Whenever I listen to this band, I imagine myself in a dimly lit bar, sipping on a red-colored cocktail while surrounded by red, pink, yellow, and green lights. The atmosphere is electric, and everyone is vibing, dancing, and cheering for this amazing group.

If you're a fan of future retro vibes, then you absolutely have to check out this playlist. It's filled with amazing songs that will transport you to another time and place.

And if you happen to know of a place that matches the vibe I just described, please let me know! I would love to experience that kind of atmosphere for myself.

Coz I got everything you need.
Satisfaction, guaranteed.
Learned the dances
Learned the lines
Staged it all by pure design.

Glimpse of Love - Franz Ferdinand

I absolutely adore indie rock - it's one of my favorite genres! I just wish there was more of it around these days. Some of my all-time favorite bands include Kaiser Chiefs, Travis, Keane, and Wild Beasts.

Recently, I stumbled upon a song that I just can't get enough of. It's addictive in the best possible way, and every time I listen to it, I can't help but feel uplifted and positive.

I first heard this amazing tune at the end of an episode of a Laudermilk series. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to Shazam it at the time, but I was so hooked on the song that I searched for the entire soundtrack. And let me tell you, whoever curated the musical score for the series really knew what they were doing. The soundtrack is filled with amazing selections that perfectly complement the show's vibe and tone.

Joe Newman/alt-J

Remember back in 2012 when indie music was at its peak and Alt-J was riding the wave? Their hit song "Tessellate" was playing everywhere, and we couldn't get enough of it!

While I haven't been a huge fan of their more recent work, I have to say that there are two songs in particular that I absolutely love. One is a remix, and the other is a collaboration with Portico - both are definitely worth a listen!

The lyrics in both of these songs are on fire, and I think they perfectly capture the essence of what makes Alt-J so unique and special. If you're a fan of their older work, or just love great music with meaningful lyrics, then I highly recommend checking out these two amazing tracks.

Peace of Mind - Max Jury

This song music manages to be both simple and sophisticated at the same time, setting it apart from the similar group of artists.

Th sound has a touch of nostalgia to it, with an early 2000s vibe that feels like a warm, comforting blanket.

Everything is burning down
Stop and watch the embers fly
Everyone's an island now
Looking for some peace of mind

3AM - DRAMA

Do you ever dream of escaping to sunny LA, with its year-round warmth and effortlessly cool vibes? I know I do, even though it's not really my kind of place in reality.

In my dreams, life in LA is slow and easy, with endless opportunities for work and play. I imagine myself lounging in the warmth, being close to the ocean, snacking on fresh salads and acai bowls, and soaking up the California sun.

If you're a dreamer like me, then you'll love my California-themed playlist. It's the perfect soundtrack for daydreaming about life in the Golden State, with tracks that capture the laid-back, sun-drenched vibe of LA.

So come on, let's indulge in a little escapism and imagine ourselves in the land of endless summers. Who knows, maybe one day we'll make our dreams a reality and find a place just like this. (Please let me know if you do!)

Share your fave tunes with me in the comments! :)
