In search of 90s ‘Merica
From what I understand, see and read - the America we’ve seen in films growing up (90' and early 00’) is most likely gone (?).
Although the world keeps changing, the unreasonable optimist (those who know me can tell I'm anything else but optimist :D) in me keeps looking for opportunities to experience a resemblance of this vibe in real-life.
The way I’d love to do this is by blending in work and travel - in this scenario, attending some kind of a business event with a touristy twist on the East Coast. Most likely in the autumn to take advantage of the fall foliage.
Here’s a little itinerary I'm slowly putting together.
🗽 New York
3-4 days exploring the city
attend a conference/biz event, potentially meet local clients
🥯 have a bagel
🍁 New England
4-5 days
road-trip Massachusetts/Maine
see the fall foliage!
Places up to further consideration:
Cape Cod
Provincetown or Nantucket/Martha’s Vineyard
Plymouth
walk though the sand dunes
overdose on sweet pastry while doing it
lobster and seafood
Boston
do a nice city tour on the river
food, library, campuses(?)
🍂 Look for some more foliage in Massachusetts
🍹 Miami
attend a conference or an industry event
recover from a potentially cold weather
chill by the 🌊
3-4 days
I have very few expectations when it comes to US travel - my trip to the West Coast was one of the most prominent travel disappointments up to date 😅.
When traveling Europe, the places tend to overdeliver and get better live - pictures don’t do any justice.
I should probably count in an underlying anxiety when it comes to security and keep this trip under 14 days. This seems to be a good benchmark!
I’d welcome your tips for places to visit! Have you ever been to New England/New York?
