Oostende

A tiny bit of summer strikes Slovakia these days. While soaking up the sun on my sunbed, I realised it's already 2 months since I've visited Oostende.

I have never been to the North sea before so I really appreciated sunny weather forecast, which didn't really change. The temperatures were more than pretty mild. At least 17 degrees and the trains were full of people heading towards the same direction. The journey from Brussels took about 1 hour.

The chilly wind was so strong I couldn't make it right straight through the sand to touch the sea! After observing the waves and praying seagulls would have mercy, I found myself contemplating the fresh scent of the ocean I love in its entirety.

I went on little walk through the city and promenade. Oostende has about 40 000 inhabitants, which makes it approximately as 'big' as my hometown. As an inland inhabitant, right from the central Europe - cities by the sea are truly different in it's core. There's a certain esprit that every (little) town has, because of it's history and infrastructure- shaped by the sea.

It's a lifestyle I've never experienced on a day-to-day basis. It's always been my motivation and a dream to live (at least part-time) by the ocean. Hope I'll make it one day!
